University Farm

The University Farm is located about 5.3 km south of Tsuruoka Campus and surrounded by a farming area spreading over the southern Shonai Plain. At this University Farm, practical study, education and research are pursued along with various activities of agricultural production in the field. Various types of fieldwork are arranged for students to learn about basic agricultural activities. The work includes experience of handling crops and domestic animals in the field.

University Forest

The University Forest is located only 26 km south from the Tsuruoka Campus, in the area of the Asahi Mountains. The steep geographical features of the Asahi Mountains, as well as extraordinary heavy snowfall in winter and plenty of rain in summer, afford the forestry activities. Now University Forest is also used as an outdoor education and research center on forest resources and environmental issues. For example, one of the permanent plots for research of acidic rain and snow is situated in this University Forest. Likewise, the nursery field in the Tsurnoka Campus is used effectively as a convenient arboretum and experimental area.

Library (Agricultural Library)

About 86,000 books, periodical journals and materials relating to agriculture, are contained in the library in Tsuruoka campus. It strongly supports research and educational activities by faculties and students. Anyone can use its facilities and services such as lending, photocopies and literature searches.
It is usually open from 8:45 am, to 9: 00 pm. on Monday through Friday and from 10:00 am. to 5:00 pm. on Saturday and Sunday.

Computing Service Center (Tsuruoka Branch)

The Yamagata University Computing Service Center (YUCSC) was founded in order to provide effective information handling and management concerning research and education. The Tsuruoka Branch of YUCSC is equipped with workstations and various kinds of peripheral machines and serves as the center of LAN in Tsuruoka campus. Since this branch is connected directly to YUCSC by an optical fiber cable, all the resources of the Internet, as well as the facilities, are comfortably available from each terminal.
