1947
Yamagata Prefectural Agriculture and Forestry College was established in Tsuruoka, Yamagata Prefecture.
1949
Yamagata Prefectural Agriculture and Forestry College was developed into the Faculty of Agriculture at Yamagata University.
1950
Tsuruoka Branch of the University Library was established.
1957
Department of Agricultural Engineering was established.
1959
Postgraduate Courses of Agriculture and Forestry were established.
1961
Postgraduate Course of Agricultural Engineering was established.
1964
Department of Agricultural Chemistry was established.
1968
Department of Horticulture and Fruit Science was established.
1970
Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences (Master Course) was established. Postgraduate Courses were dissolved.
1972
Master Course of Horticulture and Fruit Science in the Graduate School was established.
1977
Institute of Forestry in Heavy Snowing Region was established./dd>
1987
Tsuruoka Branch of Information Processing Center was established.
1990
United Graduate School (Three-year Doctoral Course) of Agricultural Sciences, Iwate University was established by merging three graduate schools of agriculture at Iwate, Hirosaki and Yamagata University.
1991
The Departments of Agriculture, Forestry, Agricultural Engineering, Agricultural Chemistry. and Horticulture and Fruit Science were reorganized into two Departments, Bioproduction and Bioenvironment.
1994
Obihiro University of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine joined to the United Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Iwate University.
1995
Master Courses of Agriculture, Forest, Agricultural Engineering. Agricultural Chemistry, and Horticulture and Fruit Science were reorganized into two courses, Science of Bioproduction and Science of Bioenvironment.
1996
Faculty of General Education in Yamagata University was dissolved.
1998
The Departments of Bioproduction and Bioenvironment were reorganized into three Departments, Bioproduction, Bioresource Engineering, Bioenvironment.
2002
Master Courses of Science of Bioproduction and Science of Bioenvironment were reorganized into three courses, Science of Bioproduction, Science of Bioresource Engineering, Science of Bioenvironment.
