The faculty has a number of facilities available for use in research and day to day activities

Yamagata Field science Center

The Yamagata Field Science Center comprises of the Takasaka Farm and University Forest . These two facilities are vital in research activities conducted at the Faculty.

Takasaka Farm

Located 5.3 km South of the Faculty premises on the foot of Mt. kimbo, the university farm covers a land area of 24 hectares and a place for advancing practical education and research integration. The field is used to implement practical training in agricultural production. Research activities are aimed at the development of environmentally friendly general-purpose paddy fields, understanding and solving problems of growing vegetables and fruit trees as well as the paddy fields. Through practical research, We are aiming to cultivate resource-recycling of rice products and promote animal production by effectively utilizing biomass including livestock waste. And also improve the examine the varieties the wide variety of traditionally cultivated vegetables and fruit trees to use genetic information to improve their qualities, ie., we search, collect, and conservate genetic resources.

Kaminagawa University Forest

The University Forest is associated with the Section of Watershed Conservation. The steep geographical features of the Asahi Mountains, as well as extraordinary heavy snowfall in winter and plenty of rain in summer, provide the perfect environmental for watershed and forestry related research activities. The University Forest is also an important part of outdoor education and research activities on forest resources and environmental issues.
