The Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences is composed of three Master’s Programs of Bioproduction Science, Bioresource Science and Bioenvironmental Science.

The Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences is aimed at nurturing talented people who can cope with the multidimensional aspects and high level of speciality of agricultural sciences with comprehensive judgment and balance feeling. It also aimed to train highly specialized person who can respond to the diversified and complicated societal needs, and have practical ability to engage in creative projects, such as research, investigation and exploitation.

Bioproduction Science The division of Bioproduction Science has nurtured many outstanding human resources, mainly engineers and researchers. In this program, individual support is given by supervisors in order to fulfill more advanced knowledge in the research area such as sustainable production of safe agricultural and livestock products, agricultural management responsible for it, regional revitalization, etc. and to develop practical ability and field work.
Bioresource Science The biological resources such as microoganisms, animals, plants and their living environments are the study objects in the program, and various advanced techniques are adopted to develop and improve bioresource utilization and specialized field of study. Moreover, in order to solve various problems in the local society and the international community, the young researchers and engineers, who are responsible for improvement of the progress of humanity, will be trained by professors in each specialized field of study through individual guidance.
Bioenvironmental Science Bioenvironmental Science program has developed a lot of human resources being of service to society, mainly engineers and researchers. This program provide the solicitous education program supported by supervisors, which aims at fostering practical abilities for creative projects such as field survey, research and technical development as well as cultivating advanced professional expertise in each academic field.

Doctoral Course

Outline

Graduate School of Agricultural Sciences, Yamagata University, does not have its own doctoral programs but joint programs with Iwate University and Hirosaki University.

The joint program has three majors (Bioproduction Science, Bioresources Science and Regional Environment Creation) are organized at the United Graduate School of Agricultural Science (UGAS), Iwate University. Students of UGAS can study at one of three member universities where their supervisors belong.
