Winter School in Hanoi was held
ウィンタースクール in ハノイを実施しました

The Faculty of Agriculture at Yamagata University (YU) and the Faculty of Natural Resources and Environment at the Vietnam National University of Agriculture (VNUA) organized a winter school from February 20th to 24th 2023 on "Sustainable Water Management and Food Security," a 5-day program designed to provide students from YU and VNUA with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities related to emerging concerns in water supply and sanitation, agricultural water management, and food security.　
山形大学農学部（YU）とベトナム国立農業大学（VNUA）の自然資源環境学部は、VNUAをホスト大学として2023年2月20日から24日まで「持続可能な水管理と食糧安全保障」をテーマとしたウィンタースクールを開講しました。このプログラムは両学部の学生を対象とし、水供給と衛生、農業水管理、食糧安全保障における新たな懸念に関連する課題とその可能性について包括的に理解することを目的とした5日間のプログラムです。

Between February 20 and February 25, 2023, eight VNUA students and ten YU students participated in a program hosted by VNUA. Through a combination of seminars, field trips, and interactive discussions with local stakeholders, students have gained valuable insights into the current issues and potential solutions related to water management and food security in Vietnam, with a particular focus on Hanoi. In addition, the participants learned about the emerging issues surrounding sewage treatment and the new circular economic model with sewage treatment plants as the core for the revitalization of many areas in Japan.　
2023年2月20日から2月25日にかけて行われたこのプログラムには、VNUAの学生8名とYUの学生10名が参加しました。セミナー、フィールドトリップ、現地の関係者との双方向のディスカッションを組み合わせることで、学生はハノイを中心としたベトナムの水管理と食料安全保障に関する現在の問題と潜在的な解決策について貴重な洞察を得ました。また、下水処理をめぐる新たな問題や、日本各地の地域活性化を目的とした下水処理場を核とした新しい循環型経済モデルについて学びました。

Students had opportunities to engage in interactive discussions with local stakeholders, farmers, and representatives of farming cooperatives, as well as to develop their own interactive discussions among student groups in order to identify the current issues facing local communities and to develop innovative initiatives for the sustainable supply of clean water and safe foods.
学生たちは、地域社会が直面している現在の課題を明らかにし、きれいな水と安全な食料の持続的な供給のための革新的な取り組みを開発するため、学生グループ間でディスカッションを深めるだけでなく、地域の関係者や農民、農業協同組合の代表者と双方向の議論を行う機会も得ました。

In addition to the educational programs, the students had the opportunity to explore Hanoi's cultural and traditional aspects. Throughout the intensive course, the students from both universities forged close bonds with the other participants, laying the groundwork for them to acquire skills that will be advantageous to their future careers. 教育プログラムに加え、学生たちはハノイの文化や伝統的な側面を探索する機会も得ました。両大学の学生は、このプログラムを通して他の参加者と親密な関係を築き、将来のキャリアに有利なスキルを身につけるための土台を築きました。
